Engineered Fibers Technology, LLC (EFT), was
founded in 1998 with a mission to provide unique engineered fibers and
engineering services to meet specialized technical requirements in short fiber
composites, engineered materials, papers, pulp-molded products and nonwovens.
The founders of EFT all have over 30 years of industrial
experience, with a great depth of engineering knowledge combined with
practical, hands-on experience in fiber development, manufacturing and
commercialization. Regardless of whether our efforts are in the areas of fibers
engineering or fibers service, EFT brings unique competence in engineered
materials combined with fibers processing, applications engineering and
commercial development that provides new solutions to materials problems and
market requirements.
EFT now offers a broad range of fiber types and technical
services and is a full service source for an extensive range of short-fibers
and synthetic pulps / fibrillated fibers, and for applications development of
these products. In addition, we maintain strategic alliances with several fiber
producers worldwide including Kuraray, Sterling Fibers and Lenzing Tencel,
among others, to be able to provide the newest fiber products.
The current Engineered Fibers Technology facility, our
second home in Shelton, CT can provide a wide range of both textile type and
higher performance engineering type fibers, in precision short-cut lengths from
0.25 mm to 25 mm and in staple lengths of up to several inches. Currently
available fibers now include a wide range of acrylic, modacrylic, lyocell,
polyester, PVA, polypropylene/ polyethylene, nylon, splittable bicomponent
fibers, thermal binder bicomponent fibers and other specialty textile type
fibers. Various engineering/technical fibers including pitch and PAN based
graphite fibers, Ni and Cu clad graphite, PEEK, PPS, melamine, high modulus
acrylic and PVA, high tenacity polyester, Vectran, PTFE, and quartz are also
available. Fiber orders from a few hundred grams to production quantities can
be delivered. Contract cutting services and special packaging options to meet
specific customer requirements have been expanded.

EFT also has broad capabilities to provide highly
fibrillated fibers/pulps including acrylic pulps, lyocell pulps,
microfibrillated fibers , Vectran LCP pulps and Zylon PBO pulps in a range of
lengths and degrees of fibrillation. Fibrillated PVA is currently under
development. Refining capabilities range from laboratory scale to large
production batches. Wet pulps are normally provided for wet-laid applications,
but dry pulps can also be produced.
EFT maintains a full time laboratory staff and has the
ability to provide applications development and product evaluations, as well as
technical support to customers related to new short-cut fibers and pulps, with
the major focus being on wet-laid papers, filtration media, slurry molded
shapes and engineered materials. EFT is also continuing to expand contract
research and development to address specific customer requirements and
applications.
